A dated record of what was fixed on your Shopify store

For the owner of a small Shopify store named in an ADA website suit, and for the owner's attorney. I test the store by hand, fix the issues in a duplicate theme, retest, and give you a dated before-and-after record. You decide when to publish the theme.

$1,490 fixed per store

  • You pay by invoice after you have read the record. No deposit, no card link.
  • You can show the record to your attorney before you pay.
  • Your live store stays as it is until you publish the duplicate theme.

How it works

  1. You send the store address. Add the list of issues from the complaint if you have it. You give me a collaborator or staff account limited to themes. I do not need customers, orders or payment data.
  2. Hand test. On a paid order, a person uses the store with a keyboard, with NVDA on Windows and with VoiceOver on an iPhone. Each issue is written down: page, steps, what happens, WCAG criterion, date.
  3. Fixes in a duplicate theme. I copy your live theme and change only the copy. The code change for each issue is kept.
  4. Retest. I repeat each step on the duplicate and write down what happens now.
  5. Before-and-after record. For each issue: date tested, what happened, the code change, date retested, what happens now.
  6. You publish. You read the record, show it to your attorney if you wish, pay the invoice and publish the duplicate when you choose. I never publish a theme.

What the test covers

The home page, a collection, a product, the cart, search, the contact page and one content page, using your live theme and content. The checkout is run by Shopify and is outside the theme. Apps that add their own code are listed in the record, with a note on what I could and could not change.

Sample

Read the sample record. It uses the public demo pages of Shopify's Dawn theme and includes real code patches. It says on the page how each row was made.

For attorneys

If you have a store in hand, send the store address and I will reply in writing with scope and a date. Your client pays by invoice after they have read the record. I give no legal opinions, make no conformance claims, pay no referral fees, and do not sign statements or declarations for a case.
